AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — The Black Historical Cultural Center for multi-services is one of the host sites for Juneteenth in Amarillo. Members of the community gather to celebrate the first of a number of events to celebrate Juneteenth Freedom Day on June 19.
“A celebration for everybody to gather for everybody to have a good time, we host it here at Bones Hooks,” said Evander “Ziggy” Hood, an Amarillo resident. “We walk up and down Hughes Street and celebrate that time, and it’s really just a peaceful time for everybody in the whole community to get together.”
