Amarillo summit seeks solutions for homelessness and crisis intervention challenges

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Looking for new long-term solutions to a persistent problem, the focus point at this year’s Crisis Response Educational Summit at the Amarillo Area Foundation.

More than a dozen agencies from Amarillo and across the Texas Panhandle converged to attend a one-day summit to go over new solutions and how to best deal with a problem that comes with homelessness and people in crisis.

“Crisis can evolve very quickly, you know. Coming Home is an outreach for those experiencing homelessness,” said Dr. Shana James, executive director of Andrea’s Project. “If someone is experiencing homelessness and is sexually assaulted, Coming Home is not who you’re going to call, but sometimes, they get those phone calls.”…
