After the death of a Lubbock Veteran, her sister seeks help from community for proper burial

Lubbock, Texas— Here on the South Plains, those that served this country, the veterans, mean a lot to the community and many try to help them when they are in need. An Amarillo woman is asking the community’s support with monetary donations to bury her sister who served in the United States Army Reserves.

Laurel Sebastian, the sister of 29-year-old Catie Sebastian, told everythinglubbock.com her sister was always confident. “She was never afraid to be herself, no matter the circumstance. No matter the situation. She never met a stranger. Anybody that she met, she would instantly make them feel welcome and like she had already known them for a long time.”

Sgt. Mona Liza Castillo who served along Catie, said she had the honor of meeting, who they know as just ‘Sebastian’. “She was in headquarters as a mechanic. When I reclassified, I became a truck driver. So, at that point I’d definitely dealt with Catie a lot, you know, for her maintenance in my vehicle.”

Laurel said she got the worst call she could have gotten while at work on June 17th, “last Sunday night, she had gone to bed, told her roommate that she didn’t feel good. And then two days later, she just I’d been in her room. Her roommate went to go check on her. And she had been she had been dead at that point.”…
