Film Fight: ‘Amarillo College has chosen to scapegoat Sharpened Iron Studios’

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — The fight over a lease between Amarillo College and Sharpened Iron Studios (SIS) heated up Friday.

The studio responded to the Board of Regents decision to terminate the 50-year lease agreement between AC and the studio claiming SIS failed to “comply with the requirements of the lease” including making $8 million in renovations.

“Rather than address their own repeated failures to meet lease obligations, including unresolved infrastructure issues, asbestos disclosure and remediation, approval delay, and failure to create the required film school, Amarillo College has chosen to scapegoat SIS,” said the studio in a statement to ABC 7 News.
