Amarillo Police search for suspect after shooting near downtown on Saturday

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Amarillo Police Department announced that it is searching for a person after a security guard was shot Saturday night near downtown.

According to APD, officers responded to reports of a shooting around 700 N. Fillmore Street, where people on scene said a man opened fire with an AR-style rifle, allegedly targeting a woman. APD detailed that the gunfire hit a security guard, who was then transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.

The release explained that the suspect, identified as 41-year-old Carlos Videna, reportedly fled the scene in a white sedan. As of Sunday morning, neither Videna nor the female victim has been located.
