Amarillo woman pleads guilty to theft in relation to embezzlement of local non-profit

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — According to documents filed by the Potter County District Clerk, an Amarillo woman was charged with theft of property in relation to embezzlement of a local non-profit.

Documents report that Karen McWilliams was alleged to have embezzled money from an Amarillo non-profit between January 2018 and October 2023.

During her time working as an employee or volunteer, documents said McWilliams admitted to taking funds from the non-profit and bank records obtained were said to have supported an audit report.

Documents show that McWilliams pleaded guilty to “Theft of Property, More than $30,000 and less than $150,000,” and was placed on 10 years probation for the charge…
