1 dead after falling into grain elevator Monday in Hereford

HEREFORD, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — According to the City of Hereford, one man is dead after falling into a grain elevator Monday morning.

City officials said the Hereford Police Department, Hereford Fire Department and Hereford EMS were dispatched on a report of a man who fell in a grain elevator, in the 100 block of South Main Street on Monday at around 9 a.m.

When crews arrived, they found that one person, identified as German Alvarez Rios, 58, “had become entrapped in corn within the elevator.”

The city said Rios died at the scene despite efforts to rescue him. Rios’s body was later recovered from the elevator at around 12:30 p.m…
