AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – For more than 40 years, Amarillo Habitat for Humanity has been giving families more than just a place to live. The organization is helping families build stability, financial opportunity and stronger communities through affordable homeownership.
Since its founding in 1981, Amarillo Habitat has built 121 homes across the city, with plans to add four more by the end of the year. The organization focuses on providing safe and stable housing to families who fall between 30% and 60% of Amarillo’s median income.
Heart of the High Plains: Bethesda Outreach Center
“When we look at applicants from our program, the first thing we want to make sure is that they have the ability to afford a mortgage,” said Executive Director at Amarillo Habitat for Humanity, Alason Moorhead. “We don’t want them to get into a situation where they can’t afford a home.”
