Barfield Hotel earns Texas historical marker, boosts Amarillo’s downtown revival

Once left to decay for decades, the Barfield Hotel now stands as both a symbol of Amarillo’s downtown renaissance and the city’s rich historical roots — officially recognized this week with a Texas Historical Commission marker.

On July 31, state and local leaders gathered on the second-floor balcony of the Barfield to celebrate the building’s new designation as an official Texas Historic Site.
