AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The City of Amarillo is asking for public input and feedback regarding the selection for the next chief of the Amarillo Police Department.
In February, the city of Amarillo and then APD Chief Martin Birkenfeld agreed to a separation. Since then, the city of Amarillo had been working to search for a new police chief.

The city said it is offering an online survey to the public to help guide the selection of the next Chief of Police. Public participation would help identify qualities, experience, and public safety priorities.
