AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – Hope Village is open for business, offering more than coffee, deli sandwiches and ice cream, its offering job training and real work experience to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The project features three on-site businesses: Special Blends Coffee and Tea, Jeffrey’s Deli and Scoops with Smiles Ice Creamery.

“We came up with this concept so that we could train our Advo employees to be ready and available for employers in the community,” said Carla Hughes, President and CEO of Advo Companies. “So this is a 16-week training period. So they can go out and then work for employers who want ready and available employees.”
Participants will learn skills like customer service, food preparation and operating a cash register. After completing the program, they are connected with jobs in the community…
