Clear the Shelters: Gracie’s Project

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – Gracie’s Project is participating in NBC’s Clear the Shelters initiative to get adoptable pets into their forever homes throughout August.

When it comes to volunteering at an animal shelter, it’s all about heart. And that is the foundation on which Gracie’s Project runs.

Clear the Shelters 2025: A look at animal shelters, rescues around Amarillo and the High Plains

“Gracie’s Project is a non-kill shelter,” Stacia Merriett, Gracie’s Project volunteer, said. “We have a ton of animals that we take in, and we have over 200 dogs still currently in our care that we’re looking for their homes.”

Gracie’s Project rehabilitates sick and injured dogs daily and is dedicated to saving as many animals as possible. Merriett said the more dogs they can get adopted out, the more dogs they will be able to help in the future…
