Amarillo, TX – Drivers in the Texas Panhandle may face flooded low-water crossings and gusty winds early Sunday before clearer skies return for Labor Day.
According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, a Flood Watch remains in effect through 7 a.m. Sunday. Excessive rainfall overnight could cause flooding in rivers, creeks, and poor drainage areas. Gusty winds up to 55 mph may also impact travel, knocking down tree limbs and blowing debris onto highways, including stretches of Interstate 40.
Cities at highest risk include Borger, Panhandle, Fritch, White Deer, Groom, Skellytown, and Amarillo. Residents should avoid driving across flooded roads and prepare for brief power outages from strong winds. Outdoor items should be secured…
