As the year is just flying by, it’s hard to imagine that here we are in September in Amarillo. September means that we are getting close to fall, and one of the first things we think about autumn is the fair.
All of the rides and all of the food. One of the things about the fair that I always had on my must-have list is the stuffed sopapillas from the St. Matthew’s booth. That became a regular requirement every time I headed through those gates.
The End of an Amarillo Fair Tradition
Then, when the pandemic hit in 2020, that was the end of their booth at the Tri-State Fair. So you would think that meant the end of those great sopapillas in Amarillo. Luckily, even though the trip to the fair leaves us without those great sopapillas, all hope is not lost…
