Faith City Mission marks one year of overnight shelter for women and children

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – Faith City Mission marked one year since the opening of its women’s overnight dorm, a facility that has provided emergency shelter for hundreds of women in crisis throughout Amarillo.

Since opening in 2024, the dorm has served as a safe, overnight safe spot for women and mothers experiencing homelessness or escaping domestic violence. According to Faith City Mission, the dorms fill a gap for individuals who don’t require a long-term recovery program but urgently need a place to sleep.

“The streets of Amarillo are not the safest place to be sleeping on at night,” said director of development Heidi Keathley. “We want women to have a safe place to come and to just know that they can actually close their eyes and sleep at night and know that they are safe, that they aren’t going to be injured.”
