Big Texas Rally for Recovery returns to Amarillo to support addiction awareness

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII)— The Big Texas Rally for Recovery Panhandle Edition is set to take place for the second time at the Southwest Church of Christ in Amarillo. The event, scheduled for tomorrow, coincides with National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Awareness Month. Organizations across the Texas Panhandle are joining forces to celebrate the journey of recovery.

Attendees can enjoy free food, live music, and learn about resources available for those struggling with addiction. Seth Trujillo, Client Outreach Manager at Cenikor Foundation, emphasized the importance of inclusivity in recovery. “The journey for recovery is a little bit different for each person, and we embrace that and accept that regardless of where you’re at in your journey, we want you to know that you’re welcome here,” said Trujillo. “If you are at a point where you don’t believe that sobriety is possible, that’s okay. Anything we can do to move you in a healthier direction.”

Last year’s rally drew around 800 attendees, with some describing the experience as life-changing. Trujillo shared a story of a participant who attended the rally early in his sobriety journey. “He was only 4 or 5 months in his sobriety and was able to find other people. They gave him a huge amount of support, encouragement that helped him get to the point where he is now, and now he’s working in a career, giving back to other people that are struggling, on their very first day trying to find sobriety,” said Trujillo…
