AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Hundreds of community members and first responders gathered at the Texas Panhandle War Memorial Center to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001.
Randall County Sheriff Chris Forbis reflected on the tragic events of that day, saying, “I remember when the first plane hit and we all thought it was an accident. And as soon as the second plane hit the second tower, we all knew it was a terrorist attack. And you were just taking it back. You didn’t know what actually to think or what to feel. It was just surreal. And then after that came the anger. And then after that came resolve. And I think that that is what we need more in this country today.”
