Amarillo gas prices rise 7.0 cents, average $2.75/gallon on Monday

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Gas prices in Amarillo rose 7.0 cents per gallon in the last week to reach an average of $2.75/gallon on Monday, according to the most recent report from GasBuddy. Those prices are 10.5 cents per gallon higher than they were a month ago and 10.4 cents per gallon higher than they were a year ago.

GasBuddy reported the cheapest station in Amarillo was priced at $2.49/gallon on Sunday while the most expensive was $3.49/gallon, a difference of 100.0 cents. The lowest price in Texas was noted as $2.34/gallon while the most expensive was $4.04/gallon, a difference of $1.70.

Nationally, the average price of gas has fallen 3.6 cents from last week’s average of $3.12/gallon on Monday. That national average was noted as down 1.8 cents from a month ago and 2.8 cents lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel fell by 2.6 cents to stand at around $3.65/gallon.

Gas prices in areas neighboring Amarillo included:

  • Lubbock- $2.67/gallon, up 5.8 cents from last week’s $2.61/gallon.
  • Midland Odessa- $2.62/gallon, down 16.6 cents per gallon from last week’s $2.79/gallon.
  • Oklahoma- $2.72/gallon, up 3.0 cents from last week’s $2.69/gallon.

“While gas prices fell in more states than they rose last week, the West Coast continues to face challenges, with Oregon and Washington seeing some of the largest increases due to regional infrastructure issues,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “The good news is that the transition to cheaper winter gasoline begins tomorrow across most of the nation, and with improvements underway in the West Coast market, I expect that average gas prices will continue to decline in the weeks ahead in most states— assuming hurricane season remains quiet.”…
