Creek House Honey Farm highlights National Honey Month

CANYON, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — September is National Honey Month. National Honey Month was established by the National Honey Board with oversight from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in 1989.

The month aims to promote the beekeeping industry, celebrate honey as a natural sweetener, and raise awareness for the crucial role honey bees play in food production through pollination.  According to Paige Nester, the owner of Creek House Honey Farm, honey has many health benefits.

“It’ll heal a burn,” Nester said. “It is a fantastic way to heal your body from the inside out. A lot of people use it for seasonal allergies, but it’s one of the best things for a cough. I don’t think a lot of people know or realize that it’s a natural medicine.”

Nester said beekeeping is a form of farming, and managed honey bees are livestock, so it’s critical to have beekeepers to take care of honey bees…
