The arts have always been a part of the fabric of Amarillo. The murals, the live music history, and the performance arts have been something that the city has been able to hang its hat on.
However, the music scene has dissipated in recent years. The murals live on strong, especially with the HOODOO Mural Festival, and performance arts are still big with Amarillo Little Theatre and other places.

Film Is Growing In The City
Having “Yellowstone” film here several years ago was a HUGE lift for Amarillo, and the entire city was excited about that crew being here. Not far away, we have “Landman” filming in the Permian Basin area.
A film studio opened up in Amarillo several years ago, Sharpened Iron Studios, and even though they’re embroiled in a bit of a legal battle at the moment, they’re pushing ahead and working on films right here in the city.
