Barrio Neighborhood Planning Committee hosts free home buyer education class Thursday

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The Barrio Neighborhood Planning Committee announced it will partner with the Association of Amarillo Realtors to host a free home buyer education class Thursday at the Amarillo Public Library East Branch.

According to the BNPC, the free event will be held Thursday from 6 p.m. to 7:20 p.m. at the Amarillo Public Library East Branch location. It is expected to include discussions of available homes for sale in or near the Barrio, tips for becoming a successful homeowner, and partners and resources available for future homeowners.

Organizers noted attendees will be welcome to bring children to the event, and that a Spanish interpreter and materials in Spanish will be available. Bottled water, a free dinner, and multiple door prizes will also be provided by the Association of Amarillo Realtors.

The goal of the event, according to the BNPC, is to help raise the rate of home ownership in El Barrio neighborhood to at least 55%, up from the 50% current rate, as well as to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month.
