Amarillo man sentenced for felony assaults, evading arrest, burglary, child endangerment

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – An Amarillo man appeared in court on Friday to plead guilty to four felony offenses stemming from an April 23 arrest.

Aaron James Smith, 28, was charged with:

  • Assault of a pregnant person – Third-degree felony
  • Abandon/endanger a child – Third-degree felony
  • Assault of a family member w/ previous conviction – State jail felony
  • Evading arrest or detention w/ a previous conviction – State jail felony

A Randall County grand jury indicted Smith for all four felony offenses in June.

At the time of his arrest in Randall County, Smith was on probation for burglary and assault of a family member with a previous conviction in Potter County…
