TxDOT deploys walking billboards to promote pedestrian safety

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Texas Department of Transportation is deploying “walking billboards” to share important pedestrian safety messages throughout the state this month.

According to TxDOT officials, TxDOT will deploy street teams of walking billboards as part of its “Be Safe. Drive Smart.” campaign to Amarillo and other high-traffic areas throughout the state. Officials noted the message for drivers and pedestrians is to stay alert, follow traffic laws, and watch out for one another.

TxDOT officials noted that the “Be Safe. Drive Smart.” campaign is part of TxDOT’s “Drive like a Texan: Kind. Courteous. Safe.” initiative. Those who wish to learn more about the campaign may do so online.
