CANYON, Texas – The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M dropped a 2-0 Lone Star Conference matchup to the Angelo State Belles on Saturday afternoon at ASU Soccer Field in San Angelo, Texas.
The first half commenced with Franciezca Blancaflor actively defending the goal, making crucial saves in the early minutes to maintain a scoreless start against Angelo State. Despite a series of corner kicks and a penalty kick opportunity from Alicia Cohen, which was saved by Angelo State’s goalkeeper Melyna Martinez, the Lady Buffs were unable to find the back of the net. Angelo State managed to take the lead in the 20th minute with a goal by Sanai Stewart. The half concluded with the Lady Buffs trailing 1-0, despite several attempts to level the score, including a shot by Lauren Stokes just before the break.
