Tucumcari Police arrest two people following narcotics investigation

TUCUMCARI, N.M. (KAMR/KCIT) — The Tucumcari Police Department arrested two people from California after a DUI investigation led to a narcotics investigation on Oct. 10.

According to officials from the Tucumcari Police Department, officers obtained a search warrant for a 2000 model Tesla being operated by a 24-year-old and a 25-year-old from California while investigating a DUI at 2624 S. First Street. Officials noted the search warrant allegedly yielded cocaine and approximately 100 pounds of marijuana that was allegedly headed to a location within 150 miles of Tucumcari.

Both individuals, according to the police department, were arrested and charged with alleged “Driving while Intoxicated (Narcotics),” “Possession of Controlled Substance,” “Trafficking of Marijuana,” and “Conspiracy.”
