AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Family Support Services of Amarillo joined thousands by wearing purple for Wear Purple Day on Thursday, a day during Domestic Violence Awareness Month to honor survivors and raise awareness about the impact of domestic violence in communities.
According to officials with FSS of Amarillo, the color purple represents courage, survival, honor, and hope. Officials noted that staff, community partners, and supporters across Amarillo and the Panhandle wore purple on Thursday.

“This day is about visibility and compassion,” said Brandi Reed, CEO of Family Support Services. “When we wear purple, we are saying that domestic violence has no home here. We are honoring the strength of survivors and reaffirming our commitment to creating a community built on safety and respect.”
