Animals are wonderful creatures to have in our lives. Our pets are family, and we love them unconditionally. However, sometimes irresponsible pet owners lead to strays across the Amarillo and Canyon communities. Just because they are strays doesn’t mean they deserve cruelty from humans.
The City of Canyon’s Animal Control has reached out to residents on its Facebook page asking for assistance involving a cat.
Canyon Animal Control’s Urgent Call for Help
On Friday, October 17, 2025, Canyon Animal Control was alerted to a cat near 4th and 5th Avenue that had a head injury. The person who reached out believes that it was a dart. Unfortunately, animal control could not locate the injured animal.
What Happened to the Injured Cat?
On Monday, October 20, 2025, they received another call about the cat and were finally able to locate the injured feline. What they discovered was that the cat had been hit in the head with a blow dart.
Unfortunately, the injury was too extensive, and the cat was in so much pain that recovery wasn’t possible, so it was humanely euthanized…
