With all the closures of different restaurants and businesses in Amarillo and surrounding areas this year, it’s been a bit of a deflating time as we’ve seen some favorites have to shut their doors due to a myriad of different reasons.
Recently, Wesley’s BBQ announced they’re only opening the doors to the restaurant on Fridays due to the lack of traffic. Fortunately, they have other things keeping it afloat, but only one day a week for us to enjoy is disappointing.

Popular Amarillo Restaurant Announces Move
A few weeks ago, the legendary Tacos Garcia on Ross announced that it would not be closing, but moving to a different location at the top of the year in 2026. That came as surprising news for sure, considering they’ve been in that location for over 30 years.
They aren’t moving too far from their current location, as they’re headed to 1619 South Kentucky, which has been the home of numerous restaurants, including Gardski’s and Leal’s. So, what does that mean for the old building? We weren’t really sure…until now.
