AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and one Amarillo organization is working to support those affected by abuse by connecting them with resources and assistance.
Yara Duarte with Family Support Services said the organization has seen an alarming trend of domestic violence cases becoming more severe over the past year.
“People have been using strangulation and gun usage,” Duarte said. “We’ve also seen a lot of clients who are younger than one might expect. Domestic violence isn’t just happening to married women or those with children anymore.”…
