2 men sentenced in cockfighting operation in Amarillo Federal Court

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Two men who were linked to a cockfighting operation were sentenced to prison, according to court documents filed in Amarillo Federal Court.

Ivan Herrera Lopez and Jaime Gamez Resendiz were both sentenced to eight months in prison after they were indicted in Amarillo federal court on charges related to a cockfighting operation.

Lopez filed a plea agreement for one count of alleged “Conspiracy to engage in an animal fighting venture,” and Resendiz filed a plea agreement for one count of alleged “Unlawful use of interstate instrumentality for promoting or furthering an animal fighting venture.”
