Prepping plants and gardens for freezing temperatures

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — As freezing temperatures approach, Executive Director of the Amarillo Botanical Gardens Greg Lusk is sharing advice on how to protect your plants and gardens this winter.

Lusk recommends starting by withholding water to help plants prepare for the cold.

“I would start withholding watering right now and kind of harden the plants off so that they’re not growing actively when the freeze does come,” Lusk said. “That’s simply turning your system off and letting it dry off some — it will help harden those plants off and get them ready.”…
