AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – Nearly 22 years after 56-year-old Donald Lutz was found dead in a home on West Studebaker, the Amarillo Police Department is still seeking information that could help reveal the truth of what happened to him and resolve his decades-cold case.
On Nov. 2, 2003, Amarillo police found Lutz, a local business owner who ran Kwik Kar Lube & Tune on Coulter Street, dead in a home in the 300 block of West Studebaker. Police said he was found with a bullet wound to the head and “signs of significant trauma.”

Police had been called to the home initially after a report of an open front door, which was noticed by one of Lutz’s neighbors. That neighbor also expressed concerns that she had not seen Lutz for “several days,” according to police. He had last been seen on Oct. 31.
“As of now, there are no leads that have led to an arrest, but we believe that someone out there has information that could help bring justice to Mr. Lutz and his family,” said the Amarillo Police Department on Friday, marking 22 years since Lutz was last seen alive. “We are asking the public for any tips or details that might help us finally solve this case.”…
