AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The past two weekends, high school marching bands from across the state competed in UIL Area competitions in hopes of making it to the UIL State Marching Contest. Four local marching bands from the Texas Panhandle will now advance to the state in San Antonio and compete to be finalists and state champions.
The schools that will be advancing to the state competition include:
- Canyon High School
 - West Plains High School
 - Randall High School
 - Amarillo High School
 
Canyon, West Plains, and Randall are scheduled for their first state 4A preliminary performance on Wednesday, with Randall performing at 10:30 a.m., Canyon performing at 1:15 p.m., and West Plains performing at 2:45 p.m.

Amarillo High School is scheduled to perform on Nov. 10 for their state 5A preliminary performance at 2 p.m.
If Canyon, West Plains, or Randall advance to the state finals, the bands will be scheduled to perform that night on Wednesday for final placement. According to the UIL website, only 10 bands will make it to the 4A state finals…
