November is a month for giving thanks in Amarillo. Every day, we see posts on social media about what people are thankful for. It’s great to see so much appreciation in the area.
Amarillo’s Season of Gratitude
It’s hard to be thankful, though, if you are one of the many families affected by the government shutdown. There are paychecks that are not happening right now. There are SNAP cards that are not being loaded.
Families Facing Real Challenges
When you are not sure where your next meal is coming from it is hard to be thankful. What a lot of us are thankful for are those local places that are jumping in to help. Even before the November 1st deadline, restaurants have been volunteering to help.
That is not slowing down. It is great to see. If you are a family struggling right now, there is no shame in taking the help that is out there. Your family has to eat, and that should be the main concern.
Pescaraz Steps Up to Help
Luckily, another restaurant is giving back on Friday. Pescaraz Italian Restaurant wants to help feed as many people as they can. According to their social media post:
Friday, November 7th, 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm, we will be giving out 250 spaghetti and breadstick meals at the restaurant. If you are in need of a warm meal or know someone, please let them know. No questions asked. My Employees and I will be honored to give out these meals…
