Amarillo, TX – A powerful cold front will send temperatures tumbling across the Texas Panhandle this weekend, ending the week’s warmth with a sharp blast of fall air. The National Weather Service in Amarillo says highs Friday will reach the 70s before plunging by 20 to 25 degrees behind the front Saturday night into Sunday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, the front will move through the region Saturday afternoon, bringing gusty north winds and much colder air. Lows early Sunday are expected to dip into the mid-20s to lower 30s for most of the area, marking the first widespread freeze of the season.
