Amarillo Expands Cold Weather Shelter Services for Local Residents as Winter Approaches

As winter approaches, the City of Amarillo and its partners are increasing services for people experiencing homelessness. They are providing access to shelters, warming centers, transportation, and outreach. Several daytime warming centers are open. These include The PARC on S.W. Sixth Ave., Guyon Saunders Resource Center on S. Tyler St., Faith City Mission Day Room on N. Tyler St., and the Amarillo Public Library Downtown branch. Each location has specific hours. All library branches are closed on city holidays.

Nighttime shelter options include Transformation Park Safe Space on S.W. Fifth Ave., which is open 24 hours and can hold up to 75 people. The Salvation Army on S. Harrison St. is open on nights when temperatures are below 32°F. Faith City Mission also offers an evening shelter. The Code Blue Warming Station on N.
