Man dies after crash in Amarillo Outback Steakhouse lot

A 73-year-old man died Sunday afternoon, Nov. 9, after a crash that ended in the parking lot of Outback Steakhouse near Interstate 40 and Coulter Street, according to Amarillo police.

Police said officers were called to the scene around 2:04 p.m. A Dodge Challenger driven by Roger Howery exited I-40 eastbound and struck a stop sign at Waldorf before colliding with a parked truck. The impact caused the truck to flip onto a Chevrolet Tahoe and then hit another vehicle.

Investigators believe Howery may have suffered a medical episode before the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said…
