Aviation history preserved through local family donation

ADRIAN, Texas (KVII) — The Speed family has chosen to donate a significant piece of aviation history housed for decades in a hangar outside Adrian.

The aircraft, an N-3N built in 1943 and originally used to train Navy pilots during World War II, will soon be transported to the Amarillo Air and Space Museum.

The N-3N entered the Speed family in the early 1960s, when it was purchased for use in the family’s crop-dusting business. After its retirement in 1968, the aircraft remained in storage…
