AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — A holiday program that has helped older adults for nearly two decades in Lubbock is launching in Amarillo for the first time.
Home Instead’s Be a Santa for a Senior campaign aims to support seniors who may be alone during the holidays or struggling to afford basic items.

According to franchise owner Stephaine Dodson, the Amarillo Home Instead office opened within the last year, making this the first time the program could expand into the area.
“We partner with Adult Protective Services. The social workers at Adult Protective Services very often come across aging adults who are in situations where they’re not able to afford many items for their homes and sometimes it’s very basic items,” Dodson said. “When we think about Christmas time, we often think about shiny, fun toys and things like that. In our situation, we’re looking at towels and sheets and pillows and food items that the aging adults in our area may not have access to.”…
