AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — For Sky Patterson, the kitchen is more than just a place to make a meal, it’s a place of love.
“This is something I love to do,” said Patterson, who’s in the second year or organizing the dinner. “I found peace in the kitchen. It’s very therapeutic to me.”Patterson told MyHighPlains.com that she started the “A Place to Go” dinner as a way to give back to people who don’t have much, or anything at all.“I’ve seen people digging out of the dumpster for something to eat. So I would like to change that. I know I can’t do it every day, but when I can, I will,” she said.

Patterson says she’s been down a dark road before, and knows first hand the uncertainty that changing your life for the better can bring, but she did it anyway.“I had a dark past, and I wanted to take a new journey in my life. I did take that journey last year. That was my first year doing a place to go. It’s bigger this year, and I hope to keep this growing,” she expressed.

As for next year, she said she hopes it’s even bigger, better and touches more hearts…
