Future of Amarillo Zoo and Wonderland Park takes center stage in advisory board meeting

AMARILLO, Texas — The future of the Amarillo Zoo and Wonderland Park was the focus of a lengthy discussion today as the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board reviewed potential changes that could reshape two major city attractions.

The Wild West Wildlife Rehabilitation Center gave a detailed presentation outlining its goals for the zoo should the city choose to lease the facility to the organization. Board members questioned aspects of the proposal, including the project’s funding structure and the possibility of reduced employee insurance coverage.
