AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Amarillo College has launched a new initiative to provide free, round-the-clock mental health counseling for its students through a partnership with Telus Health.
Jerrod Hinders, the college’s counseling center coordinator, emphasized the importance of this resource, noting that many students are non-traditional and face barriers such as time and cost when seeking mental health care.
“They’re also maintaining a lot of obligations in their life. Caring for family members, working part-time and full-time jobs,” Hinders said. “And sometimes a barrier for them to get access to mental health care is just time and cost.”…
