1 dead, 2 injured after a Friday night wreck south of Canyon

RANDALL COUNTY, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Texas Department of Public Safety reports that one person is dead and multiple people were injured after a two-vehicle wreck on South Soncy Road and West Cemetery Road late Friday night.

According to DPS, the wreck happened at around 10:33 p.m. on Dec. 5, when a 1995 Cadillac Deville traveling west on Cemetery Road failed to stop at a stop sign and entered the intersection. DPS said that a 2010 Chrysler Town & Country was traveling southbound when it hit the Cadillac.

Officials said the driver of the Cadillac was wearing a seat belt and was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. A passenger in the Cadillac was transported to the same hospital with minor injuries. Their seat belt use was unknown, troopers said.

DPS stated the driver of the Chrysler, Mardee Matlack, 56, of Canyon, was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash…
