Amarillo Area CASA celebrates over $40,000 raised through The Panhandle Gives

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Amarillo CASA announced the successful completion of the Panhandle Gives campaign, raising over $40,000 to support court-appointed advocacy for foster children.

According to Amarillo CASA, the community support will directly help CASA to recruit, train, and support additional volunteers who speak up for the best interests of children navigating the child welfare system.

Officials said CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) provides services to children in foster care. CASA volunteers are appointed by a judge and spend time getting to know the child, their caregivers, educators, and others involved in the child’s life. They advocate for the child’s physical, emotional, and educational needs and give the court system a consistent, reliable voice focused solely on the child’s well-being.

Currently, more than 400 children are in foster care across CASA’s seven-county service area.
