Help 4 The Holidays Sees Dramatic Last-Minute Turnaround

What…a…day. We came into Saturday with high hopes for Help 4 The Holidays here in Amarillo, and did it ever meet those hopes.

Now, I’ll caution that by saying we started the day with high hopes, but four hours in, when we hadn’t received a single donation, we were really starting to sweat it and wonder how we were going to get it to come together. The second half of the day, however, was EXACTLY what we needed.

Generosity POURS In

Around 11:30 am on Saturday, we were out here wondering how we were going to be able to drive the donations we so desperately needed. Not one car or person had come in for nearly five hours. Then, one car with a couple of bags arrived. Spirits officially lifted.

Another hour passed with no one showing up, and our spirits were once again diminished. We ate a little lunch and thought about how we could turn things around. Turns out, we didn’t need to worry. Around 1:30 pm, the donations just began pouring in, and some really large ones mixed in with the smaller ones.

The Biggest Of The Big

We had three donations that rolled in over a two-hour span sent us into a giddy state, not to mention all the smaller ones that came in during the same two-hour span. I don’t want to discount the smaller donations, because even those smaller ones are huge. The small ones help families the same as the big ones do, so don’t stop with the little ones. We appreciate them as much as the large ones…
