POTTER COUNTY, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Potter County Sheriff’s Office warns the public of a “Surety Bond” scam that a member of the community reported on Wednesday.
According to the Potter County Sheriff’s Office, on Dec. 10, a community member reported receiving a call from someone claiming to be a Lieutenant Steven Orcutt with the Sheriff’s Office, demanding payment for a “surety bond.”

Officials said they confirmed this to be a scam and that Lt. Orcutt is an actual employee of the Sheriff’s Office. PCSO added that the Sheriff’s Office will never request money over the phone.
