AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Gas prices in Amarillo fell 8.0 cents per gallon in the last week to reach an average of $2.22/gallon on Monday, according to the most recent report from GasBuddy. Those prices are 31.8 cents per gallon lower than they were a month ago and 16.7 cents per gallon lower than they were a year ago.
GasBuddy reported the cheapest station in Amarillo was priced at $2.02/gallon on Sunday, while the most expensive was $2.80/gallon, a difference of 78.0 cents. The lowest price in Texas was noted as $1.92/gallon, while the most expensive was $4.55/gallon, a difference of $2.63.

Nationally, the average price of gas has fallen 4.5 cents from last week’s average of $2.85/gallon on Monday. That national average was noted down 22.0 cents from a month ago and stands 12.6 cents lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel fell by 5.3 cents to stand at around $3.61/gallon.
Gas prices in areas neighboring Amarillo included:
- Lubbock- $2.19/gallon, down 5.2 cents from last week’s $2.25/gallon.
- Midland Odessa- $2.37/gallon, down 20.0 cents per gallon from last week’s $2.57/gallon.
- Oklahoma- $2.22/gallon, down 7.6 cents from last week’s $2.29/gallon.
“For the third straight week, the national average price of gasoline has fallen, once again setting a new multi-year low,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “Just ahead of Christmas, the national average stands at its lowest level since March 12, 2021, delivering weekly savings of nearly $400 million compared to this time last year. Gas prices are now lower in a majority of states, and the good news is that the downward trend may continue into the closing innings of 2025, with further declines likely across much of the country. That’s being driven by refineries wrapping up maintenance and boosting output to near summer highs, increasing fuel supply, while additional oil production from OPEC has pressured crude prices lower as well.”…
