Man who helped save Amarillo police officer receiving highest civilian honor for heroism

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — A man who helped save an Amarillo police officer will receive North America’s highest civilian honor for heroism.

The Carnegie Hero Fund Commission is awarding the Carnegie Medal posthumously to Christopher Scott Copeland.

The medal is given to “a civilian who voluntarily and knowingly risk(s) death or serious physical injury to an extraordinary degree while saving or attempting to save the life of another person.”…
