Man pleads guilty to June 2024 car shootings on Coulter Street, faces 20 years in prison

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – An Amarillo man is set to serve 20 years in prison after he pleaded guilty Thursday multiple counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, after five vehicles were shot at from an apartment complex in June 2024.

Jared Pearson was indicted on 11 counts of alleged aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in September 2024.

As noted in previous reports, on June 17, 2024, five vehicles were shot at near the intersection of Sleepy Hollow Boulevard and Coulter Street in southwest Amarillo. One person was injured after being directly hit by gunfire and three others were injured by broken glass.

Court documents said investigators determined the gunshots had come from the Windtree Apartments and had set up a perimeter when Pearson walked into the area with a pistol in plain view. He was arrested after police reported finding ammo casings and a rifle during a search in his apartment…
