Hanukkah was celebrated over at Westgate Mall for final day

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Hanukkah celebration is coming to a close, but before it ends, the community was able to learn more about the holiday at Westgate Mall.

“Lubavitcher Rebbe, he was a holy Rabbi in the 50s through 90s. He told students and rabbis to go around to places that aren’t privileged to have a community. Or are privileged to have a community, and their Judaism isn’t up to par, but rather they’re just not as religious,” added Rabbi Moshe Teldon. “They should go out and help them with the mitzvah, with the commandments, with regards to Menorah, Chanukah, and spread the light, spread the joy, spread the story.”

Chabad of Texas Towns has been hosting menorah lightings across Texas to honor the Hanukkah celebrations.

“The main miracle of Chanukah, the holiday that we’re celebrating, was that the oil lasted for eight days. The Romans, they broke into the Holy Temple, they spilled out all the oil as an act of trying to hurt us, trying to harm us, trying to put us down,” added Teldon. “Here was one small jug of oil left over, and that oil was only mathematically meant to last for one night. But rather, we filled up the menorah, the Chanukiah, in the Holy Temple with that oil, and it lasted for all eight days. So that’s why, first of all, there are eight candles and the oil.”…
